Our Hunter St centre provides care, education and preschool programs for up to 109 children aged from 6 weeks to school age. We are open 52 weeks of the year from Monday to Friday between 6.30am and 6pm. Our chef prepares healthy and nutritious meals including morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late snacks using locally sourced fresh foods.
We have 5 learning environments within our centre. Beethoven, 6wks to 1 year with 15 children per day and 4 educators, Bach 1 to 2 years, with 15 children per day and 4 educators, Mozart 2 to 3 years with 29 children per day and 6 educators, Debussy 3 to 4 years with 24 children and 3 educators and our last room being Chopin, 4 to 5 years with 26 children and 3 educators. We also have an indoor play environment and a complete outdoor environment as well.
At the time of your tour, you will be greeted by Mikayla, our Acting Director who will invite you into our learning environments. Throughout the tour, you will be introduced to our educators who will then introduce themselves to you and engage with your child. As you move through the centre, Mikayla will provide information about our routines, what we supply, what you would need to supply, offer play dates before your child starts care and answers any questions you may have. Depending on the time of day, you will observe the children and educators in various environments and engaging in spontaneous play or intentional teaching. When you have enrolled, we encourage your family to participate in play dates or orientation days. This is an opportunity for the children to interact with the environment and educators. It also gives the educators and parents an opportunity to talk more about their child’s goals, routines, likes etc.
Within our centre, we have two preschool learning environments. In the child’s last year of care before attending primary school, they will engage in our School Readiness Program. Within this program, the children engage in their own workbooks that consist of letters to trace, letter recognition, learning to write in capital and lower case, also learning to write their own name. During the children’s group time, they will sing Jolly Phonics and discuss what to do at ‘big school’. Once a year, the children participate in Lunch Box week, where the children will select their lunch of healthy foods and learn to open ziplock bags or clingwrap.
